JCCI is thrilled to send off this year’s esteemed U.S. Educators as they depart for Japan on June 28 and return on July 13. During their jam-packed, immersive adventure, they will visit numerous cities from Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Kyoto, and will feature a home stay experience near Kyoto. What’s more, they will visit museums, shrines, temples, and memorials.
Established in 1989, the program has long been a resource for giving American educators insights to help them better serve their Japanese students and communities. Participants were selected based on the substantial Japanese student enrollment their school has, and/or based on their significant contributions toward multi-cultural education. Since its inception, we’ve sent over 500 teachers and educational administrators.
On Friday, we held our Bon Voyage party to send off our educators. Remarks were given by Mr. Kazutaka Mori, Chairman of the Community Affairs Committee; Mr. Masaru Sato, Deputy Consul General, Consulate General of Japan; and Dr. Daniella Phillips, Executive Director, Office of School Design, NYC Department of Education.
