A New Year’s Message from the President

Happy New Year to all of you. I hope you celebrated the start of 2020 in good spirits with family and friends.  I would like to also thank you for your exceptional support of the Chamber’s activities over the past year.

While 2019 had its share of challenges, including an environment of trade tensions and political, economic, and social unrest across the globe, the U.S. economy remained resilient. For its part, the Japan-US relationship continued to be strong, with trade and digital trade agreements established between the two countries in an unusually short period of time signaling a further strengthening of overall cooperation.

2020 promises to be an eventful year, especially with the upcoming U.S. presidential election.  While we cannot predict what lies ahead for the New Year, I am confident that further deepening and developing ties between the U.S. and Japan will remain the cornerstone of our mutual success, and will also positively contribute to the global outlook as well.

That is why JCCI, in cooperation with our members and partners, will continue our mission to promote U.S.-Japan cooperation through business and wider cultural understanding. Japanese companies and organizations are deeply rooted in New York and across the tri state, and JCCI’s many activities build ties and help them have a positive impact in the local community. We look forward to your support and cooperation that make all of these important efforts possible.

Have a happy and prosperous New Year.

Katsurao Yoshimori

JCCI President

(President & CEO, Mitsui & Co. (U.S.A.), Inc.)
