JCCI NY at the NY Yankees Suite

JUNE 2, 2022–It was a sellout JCCI suite with the NY Yankees on Lou Gehrig Day. During the second game of the day-night double header against the Los Angeles Angels, members donned in Yankees (and some Angels) jerseys enjoyed the game over hot food and a full bar service. Hideki Matsui, former Yankee outfielder, DH, and 2009 World Series MVP, made a special guest appearance, along with current Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman.

“Matsui-san is the reason we were able to receive a ring in 2009,” Cashman said as Matsui stood alongside him.

Prior to his career with the Yankees from 2003 to 2009, Matsui played ten seasons with the Yomiuri Giants and was a nine-time All-Star, three-time Japan Series champion, and three-time Central League MVP. After several stints with other teams, he signed a one-day minor league contract with the Yankees in 2013 to officially retire as a Yankee.

The game progressed as a film, where the Angels got on the board first with an RBI single by veteran catcher Kurt Suzuki in the top of the 8th. The Yankees were able to rally back 2-1 with a single down the middle by Anthony Rizzo in the bottom of the inning. Jameson Taillon flirted with a perfect game until the 8th. While getting into a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the 9th, the Yankees were able to hold on, and put this game in the books 1-2, sweeping the Angels in the three-game set.

We thank the NY Yankees and our members for making this a successful night to remember.
